Check all users logged in the SAP system

Without even sneaking into someone's system, you can know whether the person is even logged into the SAP system or he's just fooling around.

With an SAP GUI transaction, it is possible to monitor which all users are logged in the system, check how many sessions they have open, see what they are doing in each session, even end their session and and do a little more.

The Tcode is SM04. You will see the following details when you open the transaction.
  • Client: SAP Client
  • User: SAP User Name of the user logged on
  • Terminal: Terminal at which the user is working
  • Transaction: The tcode on which the user is active most recently
  • Dialog Time: Time since last dialog step by entering the data
  • Sessions: Number of external sessions the user has opened in the system You can view all sessions opened by a user by selecting the record and then clicking on the button 'Sessions'. A new pop-up window will display the sessions. You can even end a session for the user, but be careful. :)
  • Type: Connection type which can be GUI/RFC/Plugin/System.
  • Megabytes: Size of the memory allocated to the user in megabytes.

You can log off a particular user forcefully. This is possible from the menu bar by selecting User -> Log Off User.

Please note that the transaction code SM04 will show the list of the users which are logged on only to the instance in which you are currently logged in.

To view details of users for all instances, check transaction AL08, however, you cannot do much other than viewing the details.

To see instance-wise details, check tcode SM51.
